Anceint Mesopotamia

Hi, I’m Jared and there are a lot of civilizations out there and I’m going to tell you about Ancient Mesopotamia. Would you like to live, I don’t about a billon years ago in an Ancient civilization? I know I wouldn’t, would you?
Mesopotamia was created in about 4000 B.C where farmers living between the Tigris and Euphrates River built canals to try to control the flooding. They also built cities and developed the first system of writing and then later a strong King Sargon came and united all the city-states into one which was called Sumer. Hammurabi took over and made a set of laws that he called Hammurabi’s code. external image 7501-Mesopotamia-0.jpgexternal image syriacanon3-0551.jpg
Hammurabi’s code was all not fair and cruel if a boy slapped his father or hit whichever one, that boy had his arm cut off now that’s just wrong don’t you think? Well I think so. Hammurabi was a really mean person I don’t think he liked very many people at all I think he got treated meanly over his life but
I still think he got a little to mad.

The Fertile Crescent is a moon shaped piece of land and it’s like half a moon. Ancient Mesopotamia is in modern day IRAQ. (Mesopotamia means between the rivers) The Fertile Crescent began all of Ancient Mesopotamia. They had good land to grow crops and that’s what made them want to settle there. The Southern part of Mesopotamia was very rocky. The two rivers flooded every year because of the mountains the mountains had a lot of snow on them each and every year that why when the snow melted on the mountains in flowed down to the rivers and flooded them. When they found out that the rivers they built canals so that they could control the eater instead of the water controlling them.
Well we’ve talked about how they controlled the water, Hammurabi’s code, and the Fertile Crescent and why they decided to live their for more information go to
